2018 Celebrate With Gusto
Wow, we are fast approaching the end of 2018 and before we know it, the end of the year will be here, and another year will have come and gone.
My wife and I recently booked an overseas trip for three months that starts at the end of this year. One of the reasons for our trip is to celebrate our lives together, and it will also be a time for us to celebrate Christmas with my side of the family for the first time in many years.
This pending trip has inspired me to start reflecting on my past year a bit sooner than usual. I have realised that there are actually a number of other good things for me to celebrate. Such as getting my Australian citizenship and helping a group of people with disability start a new peer-to-peer support organisation on the Central Coast.
What can you celebrate about 2018?
Don’t be a stick in the mud and think there is nothing to celebrate for 2018. We can always find something to celebrate and be grateful for. A celebration does not have to be just for a big event or experience.
It just has to mean something to us personally. In fact, it could be anything you have felt some satisfaction from such as attending a class you wanted to take or completing a task that has been hanging around for a long time.
So why celebrate?
Some of my reasons for engaging in a celebration are:
- Finding some balance in a busy life.
- Giving myself permission to slow down.
- Honouring the achievements of others and myself.
- It is an opportunity me to be creative.
- It also builds my confidence and morale.
You will find your own reasons for celebrating when you start to think about what it is you are grateful for.
Give it a go and celebrate with gusto.
As the end of the calendar year approaches it does not hurt to start contemplating now what it is you are grateful for and want to celebrate from your life.
Put some time and space aside to celebrate with style. It does not have to be big, however, making it special helps to mark the significance of what you are celebrating. Find your own way to mark the good things in your life.
Have some fun and plan to end the year in style.
