Stop Creating Content Until You Do These Two Things
Digital can bring different opportunities to businesses every day, however, there are two big mistakes I see being made when creating content. Usually what happens is a business will build a website, set up social media and then start creating content – missing two very important steps along the way.
1. Data and Analytics
This step doesn’t have to be long hard or complicated, it is simply about looking at your google analytics data and social media insights to see who is interacting with your digital channels.
2. Gaining a clear understanding of your audience
- What solution are they looking for from you?
- How digital savvy are they?
- How do they want to consume your content?
You have to really define your audience to a greater level.
Only after you have done these two steps should you start creating content, don’t skip these foundations in order to get onto the fun content stuff. Failing to do so will mean your content will not be what your audience wants so time and money will be wasted.
