Meet Gail Rogers | Contributor in the Spotlight

Gail Rogers is a passionate vocal coach with a current curiosity in exploring the influence of vocal language upon our listeners. She has extensive clinical experience gained by working throughout Australia and in the United Kingdom. Now she collaborates with Katerini Manolatos, a local music therapist and classically trained singer / teacher to offer Vocal Boot Camps. People of all ages and backgrounds, who use their voice as a professional tool or love to sing in their personal time, attend these workshops. The participants become aware of the sound and qualities of their own voice and are shown voice enhancement exercises with vocal hygiene tips & tricks that they can be easily applied immediately.

Gail, who is your business idol and why?

Myself simply because I get involved in so many diverse business sectors including health, arts, corporate business, the cosmetics industry and representing others on a wide range of Boards & committees there’s no-one I know who has a similar portfolio.

What was the last book you read without skipping through anything?

Mirrors, given to me at Christmas by my mum & dad who live in Melbourne who remembered the saga being portrayed through the media at the time when the story was being revealed to the public.

If you could trade lives with one person for an entire day who would it be and why?

George Clooney’s wife for obvious reasons – I mean I’m sure the bedroom talk would be highly intellectual and stimulating.

What is something you’ve always wanted to try but have been too scared to?

Drive a Porsche!

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

My CBWC Small Business Woman of the Year award and creating a sustainable company providing services to a wide range of clients with communication issues, graduating from University and travelling around the world on 2 extended working holidays.

Where is your favourite place to go on a weekday afternoon when you have no plans or obligations?

Active Gym for a workout or Body Balance class then grabbing some sushi for the drive home.

What drives you to do what you do? What motivates you?

My faith and work ethics and desire to keep giving back to others as I have been blessed with so much.

Is there a documentary/book/event that really changed the way you thought about something?

The Passion of Christ.

What’s your favourite cheesy pick-up line? Have you ever used it for real?

Come over for a cup of tea ! Yes frequently over the past 6 months … successfully.

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?

Yellow because I love putting smiles on people’s faces.

What’s your favourite ’90s jam?

Sorry is this jam for my toast or music to listen to?

If you woke up and had 2,000 unread emails and could only answer 300 of them, how would you choose which ones to answer?

50% of my emails are spam (despite creating junk rules etc with my IT guy) so I’d only have 300/1000 to answer. I’d answer those from my clients first, secondly those from my bookkeeper as she’s scary when I don’t respond to her emails and then my dad as he only emails me when it’s very very important like when I’m in trouble.
